DaPonte String Quartet

Sunday, May 16, 2010, 2 pm

Pre-concert talk at 1 pm.

This concert series favorite will return to Jewett Hall for the sixth year to share their extraordinary musical skill along with their personable and accessible style that makes their music relevant and fresh. Their exhilarating debut at Carnegie Hall five years ago was the New York premier of Del Tredicci’s String Quartet, which they commissioned. That success was followed by an engagement two years ago in February aboard Bargemusic, a 102-foot long converted barge once used by the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, now permanently moored at Fulton Ferry Landing, Brooklyn, NY, with an outstanding view of lower Manhattan. www.daponte.org

Their program:
Quartet in G Major, Op. 18, No. 2 ~ Ludwig van Beethoven
Quartet in F Major ~ Maurice Ravel
Quartet in A Major, Op. 41, No. 3 ~ Robert Schumann
